Ubuntu based Linux Lite 5.2 Officially Released

Linux Lite 5.2 based upon the Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS (Focal Fossa) is a major release to this distro with various new features, tweaks and improvements. This help user to run an older computer more smoothly. The operating system is using Linux 5.4 LTS kernel.

Biggest changes made on this release are as follows:

  • Move of the Firewall and Lite Widget settings to Settings Manager.
  • The ability for Lite Widget to display laptop battery status.
  • The ability to restore the Taskbar and system tray icons to default from the Lite Tweaks utility.
  • Installing the SimpleScreenRecorder, Zoom and Microsoft Teams apps through Lite Software.

Also, the Adobe Flash Player plugin is permanently removed from the ISO image file. As Adobe will stop distributing and updating Flash Player after December 31 2020.

The distro also introduces many new screensavers and wallpapers. An updated GRBU bootloader menu image with added colour and transparent effect, improved notifications. Updated UEFI files, including minimal looking boot screens to make dual-booting more enjoyable.
