In February 2021, Google announced that it will end support for the Google Keep Chrome app. The app is being moved to Google Keep on the Internet, and can still be downloaded from there. This is part of a long-term initiative by the company to destroy all Chrome applications.
Upon opening the Chrome app, users are greeted with a sign that tells them that Google Keep will soon switch from the Chrome app to the browser. It will also no longer be possible to access Hold on the Chrome OS lock screen.
Google is encouraging the web version of Google Keep to be used by people. The migration process to Google Keep on the browser can be easily completed by current users who have Chrome 86 or newer versions of the browser enabled.
Keep Chrome on the desktop will be replaced by a shortcut launcher, allowing users to click the icon on the desktop to open the Google Keep tab.
