Adjacent to Google Photos is ending Unlimited Storage Option, Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides will also count in your Google Drive Storage after storage policy is revised. Beginning June 1, 2021, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drawings, Forms, and Jamboard files will “add it to your 15GB data cap storage or any additional storage provided through Google One.” Similar to Photos, existing files will not count and be excluded. However, this revision does not apply to Google Keep or Sites.
Moreover, Google bringing new policy for accounts that are inactive or accounts that exceed the storage limit after June 1, 2021:
- If you’re inactive in one or more of these services for two years (24 months), Google may delete the content in the product(s) in which you’re inactive.
- Similarly, if you’re over your storage limit for two years, Google may delete your content across Gmail, Drive, and Photos.
However, Google will alert users through emails and notifications within Google Apps at a minimum of three months before deletion.

Since users are uploading over 4.3 million GB of data across Gmail, Drive, and Photos every day, Google made a revision in its storage policies to offer a ‘great storage experience and to keep pace with the growing demand.’
