AR Startup Scapic acquired by Flipkart

Flipkart has acquired Bengaluru-based augmented reality (AR) company Scapic Innovations to make users view products in live space before buying them. Earlier this month Flipkart enters cloud gaming with taking over of Mech Mocha.

As per the report, Flipkart declared that it will acquire a 100% stake in Scapic Innovations. The company was Co-founded in 2017 by Sai Krishna VK and Ajay PV, Scapic to provide a software-as-a-service or SaaS to build AR, VR and 3D content for e-commerce and marketing companies to attract new customers.

“Today, we buy more online than we ever have, and it has only accelerated this year. Customers now require better visuals than ever before. Scapic’s no-code platform helps create immersive experiences across categories such as fashion, furniture & electronics. We are deeply excited about the opportunity that is being presented to scale this up further and make millions of shoppers in India experience the potential of Augmented Reality,” Sai Krishna and Ajay, Cofounders of Scapic presented a statement.

Based on data by VCCEdge, In 2017 Scapic Innovations raised $490,000 in funding from Axilor Ventures, Special Invest Fund and other investors. After this deal, the developers and designers of Scapic team will work along with the e-commerce giant to continue the work on developing immersive Shopping AR experiences. However, Flipkart hasn’t disclosed the amount at which the deal cracked.
