Samsung will be rolling out Google Assistant in India, France, the UK, and other countries for its 2020 smart TV line-up. Users will be able to search channels, change the volume, monitor playback, open applications, and more by using Google Assistant voice commands. All Samsung 2020 smart TV models will be available with Assistant – 4K and 8K QLED TVs, Crystal UHD TVs, The Frame, The Serif, The Sero and The Terrace. Samsung smart TV users now have access to Alexa and Bixby voice assistants, in addition to Google Assistant.
The South Korean tech giant revealed on Friday the integration of Google Assistant into Samsung smart TVs. No extra downloads, hardware, or installations will be required. Furthermore, Samsung said that the assistant being used is interchangeable depending on the choice of the household, and will be consistent with the current voice assistant ecosystems of the viewers.
Using voice commands from Google Assistant, viewers will be able to access and streamline their Google services including Google Search, Photos, Maps, Calendar. Using voice assistants and compatible smart home devices, you can also monitor lighting, set the thermostat, set an alarm, and more.
To explore and access content hands-free, viewers will be able to use Google Assistant, Alexa, or Bixby. The voice assistants are able to provide the weather forecast, find the latest game scores, or play music.
Google Assistant is currently being deployed in France, Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom. By late November, it will roll out to India, Brazil, Spain, and South Korea, and by the end of this year to a few more countries. Though Google Assistant was also incorporated into Samsung’s 2019 smart TV-s, the catch was that users were expected to provide commands through a supporting smart device, such as Google Home.
