To further the ease of shopping through WhatsApp, the instant messaging site, has launched ‘carts’. The latest update comes nearly a month after the company owned by Facebook brought a shopping feature to its app to allow users to quickly search catalogues provided on the site by companies and place orders. WhatsApp has transitioned a step further with the introduction of carts to bring a full-fledged shopping experience to the app, where individuals can look at different goods, build carts, place orders, and pay, using the same platform.
WhatsApp can now offer users with the option of adding or removing one or more items from their carts, much like any e-commerce site or smartphone app. By clicking the latest, designated icon when exploring the catalogue of a WhatsApp Business account, they can also look at the products they have added to their carts.
Once the products have been added to the cart, they can be shared as a single message with the vendor affiliated with the WhatsApp Business account. Furthermore, to confirm the order, the seller is required to respond. The users are further required to use WhatsApp Pay to complete the order and begin the delivery process.
WhatsApp has also added a new cart-themed sticker for merchants to its ‘Open for Business’ sticker set to begin promoting their businesses on the platform inside groups and chats.
