Focused on small and medium-sized businesses, Outplay, A Sales Engagement Platform (SEP) startup today announced that it has raised $2 million from Sequoia Capital India’s Surge program for early-stage start-ups. Founded in January 2020 by brothers Ram and Laxman Papineni, Startup has currently more than 300 clients.
Prior to launching Outplay, the Papineni brothers built AppVirality, a benchmark marketing tool for app developers. Outplay is built for teams that communicate with potential customers through a variety of channels, such as phone calls, text messages, email, live chats on websites, and social media platforms like LinkedIn and Twitter. It integrates with CRM platforms like Salesforce and Pipedrive, providing salespeople with a new interface that includes productivity and automation tools to help them spend less time on administrative tasks.
Two of Outplay’s largest competitors are Outreach and SalesLoft, both of which have achieved unicorn status over the past few rounds of funding. Laxman said Outplay focuses on ease of use, along with other differentiators including more integrations with CRM and other software, and a strong client support team.
