Manually typing the website address into the browser address bar can be challenging at times. Especially if the URL of the webpage is somewhat long. Pinning a certain URL to the taskbar can be quite beneficial in this instance. Instead of opening the browser and painstakingly inputting the URL every time you need to get to it, you can just click on the icon on the taskbar. It will open the browser for you and take you to the URL you specify. Let’s take a look at how to do it on Windows 10.
There is an easy way to skip step 1-6 if you do not want to go through all of the processes listed below. Simply go to the website you want to create a shortcut for and open it. Resize the browser window so that both the browser window and the desktop are visible. Then drag and drop the padlock icon to the desktop by clicking and holding it. That is all there is to it.
- Go to the webpage you want to pin to the taskbar and open it.
- In the top-right corner, click the menu button (three vertical dots).
- Create a shortcut by selecting More tools > Create shortcut.
- A popup menu will show, where you can edit the shortcut’s name.
- Tap the Create button.
- The website will now have a desktop shortcut created.
- Right-click on it and select Pin to Taskbar from the context menu.
The steps for Firefox are the same as those stated in the Chrome section. You can simply drag and drop any website to the desktop and then right-click on it to pin it to the taskbar. It’s that simple.
