Firefox 84 for Android, Windows and Mac released, see what’s new

The widely popular web browser Mozilla Firefox this Tuesday announced the release of Firefox 84 almost on every platform like Windows, Mac and Android. This release of the Firefox will be the last version to feature Adobe Flash. As the upcoming version, Firefox 85 will kill the support for Adobe Flash Player releasing on January 26, 2021.

Firefox is a popular web browser used widely while most of the users use this browser because users get more control over their privacy against other web browser. Also, Mozilla Firefox uses its own rendering engine named Gecko, while several other web browsers are based on Chromium. This engine renders web pages much faster than it ever did in the Gecko era.

    • Native support for macOS devices built with Apple Silicon CPUs with Significant performance improvements
    • Launches over 2.5 times faster and web apps are now twice as responsive (per the SpeedoMeter 2.0 test)
    • Adobe Flash is now the only NPAPI plugin that Firefox currently supports.
    • WebRender is now available on macOS Big Sur and in Windows running on an Intel 5th & 6th gen GPUs.
    • On Linux, an accelerated rendering pipeline is available for the X11 server.
    • With Firefox 84, its uninstaller doesn't fire up the UAC confirmation dialog in Windows.
    • You can now scale the extension pop-ups and sidebars by holding the CTRL key and scrolling the mouse wheel.
    • Firefox won't show the "insecure content" warning for resources opening from the localhost address.
