Microsoft to use Cloud PC to run Win32 apps on Windows 10X

Microsoft plans to use Cloud PC technology, which is still under construction, to run Win32 apps on Windows 10X. It may offer productivity apps via a subscription fee to businesses and enterprises. Also, Microsoft plan to retire Control Panel in Windows 10

Previously a LinkedIn Job post appeared, which established the company’s long-term objective is to make Cloud PC service. The service may feature with Windows, Office 365 and other cloud productivity applications. Beyond that, Microsoft intends to launch Cloud PC officially in Spring 2021 when the company is looking forward to announcing Windows 10X for single-screen PCs.

The Cloud PC is built on using Windows Virtual Desktop and also uses Azure to offer balanced Windows 10 experience to businesses. However, on Thursday, a leak revealed the tech giant has vigorously started developing Cloud PC service for Windows. As per the leak, Cloud PC service may be offered in 3 configurations:

  • 2 vCPU, 4GB RAM and 96GB SSD.
  • 2 vCPU, 8GB RAM and 96GB SSD.
  • 3 vCPU, 8GB RAM and 40GB SSD.

Assumption can be made with this development that Microsoft probably plans to use Cloud PC or anything close to enable Win32 support in Windows 10X.
