Qualcomm announced its latest flagship SOC for mobile devices, the Snapdragon on December 1, at the Snapdragon Tech Summit 2020 event. During the presentation, Qualcomm revealed several key highlights for its latest SOC, while the presentation was mostly focused on Computational Photography improved CPU and GPU performance, integrated 5G modem with support for both sub-6 and mmWave, and more added to the new Snapdragon 888 Chip.
However, Qualcomm on Friday showcases the benchmark scores for Snapdragon 888 Chip. The company performed three tests on its custom made smartphone housing the Snapdragon 888 with 12GB LPDDR5 RAM, 512GB UFS 3.0 storage and a 6.65-inch FHD display with 120Hz refresh rate.
The San Diego based chip maker used AnTuTu, GeekBench, GFXBench Aztec Normal and Manhattan 3.0, Ludashi AiMark, AITuTu, MLPerf and UL Procyon benchmarks tools to showcase the result to the public.Image Courtesy: Qualcomm
"Each benchmark was run on a Snapdragon 888 reference design and the subsequent scores are the average result across three iterations. All benchmarks were run using default settings on the Snapdragon 888 reference design, which is recommended to deliver the best balance between performance and power consumption for user’s typical day-to-day use," says Qualcomm's Press note.
Apparently, this latest smartphone processor by Qualcomm doesn't surpass Apple’s latest chip the A14 Bionic found on the iPhone 12 lineup. Well, it will be quiet interesting to see how the Snapdragon 888 perform in real-world performance. Do let us know your thought on the Snapdragon 888 in the comments down below.
