Twitter to Restart Account Verification Process by Early 2021

Twitter has now officially announced to Restart Account Verification Process with new guidelines by Early 2021. Twitter is also planning to add new account types and labels along with the blue verified tick badge.

Aside from this, the company may also take away some badges of inactive accounts saying, "We recognize that there are many verified accounts on Twitter who should not be," on their blog.

On Tuesday, Twitter presented a new policy that’ll begin the verification process, for the following types of accounts: government, companies, brands and non-profit organizations, news, entertainment, sports, activists, organizers, and other influential individuals. Twitter further added, “We want to ensure that, as an open service, our rules reflect the voices of the people who use Twitter.”

"The blue verified badge isn’t the only way we are planning to distinguish accounts on Twitter. Heading into 2021, we’re committed to giving people more ways to identify themselves, such as new account types and labels. We’ll share more in the coming weeks. This is just the beginning of what we have planned for 2021," the company quoted.

A feedback survey is also running by the company to ensure its policy from user feedback. Anyone can tweet their feedback using the hashtag #VerificationFeedback until December 8, 2020.
