YouTube brings in $5 billion in ad revenue as Alphabet and Google bounce back

Third-quarter revenue from Google's parent company Alphabet rose 14 percent over last year, followed by a turnaround in advertisement revenue for both Google and YouTube.

In the third quarter of 2020, YouTube took in $5 billion in advertising sales; an indication that advertisers who cut back on their investment due to the coronavirus earlier during the year could be returning to something close to normal.

YouTube currently has 35 million users; including free trials; and more than 30 million music and premium paying subscribers. Moreover, YouTube TV has more than 3 million subscribers. This is particularly remarkable as YouTube TV reported a monthly price increase in June; from $50 to $64.99.

Furthermore, it is also important to note that the advertising division of Google pulled in $37.1 billion in sales; an improvement from last year's $34 billion. The revenue from YouTube advertising rose 30 percent from $3.8 billion in the third quarter of 2019.
